Hello again everyone!

Plenty of progress has been made this past month towards the demo build albeit a few health issues. The demo will be include the first few quests in the game, introducing the player to movement, NPC interactions, farming, stealth and combat! There will be a secret ninjutsu ability to be found thrown in for good measures!

I'm currently working on fine tuning the demo and even though it is based on a super early build of the game, it will give you a taste of whats to come for Early Access in Q1 2025. For the backers of this project, I will look to send out access keys to the demo build in the coming weeks, so stay tune!

Ninja Town - Huge August Update!

Hello!

Time of the month for another Ninja Town update!

Its a big update this month as I have been busy getting a demo build of the game ready for Steam's Next Fest in October! I have revamped Fire Town from the ground up, adjusted the layout and visuals, there are still more work in progress items around and will probably take some time to get "right" but thats part of the fun of doing an early access game.

Please check out the latest video below that I've just uploaded to Youtube. In the video I explore and jump around Fire Town and the surrounding forest area. The NPCs and enemies don't do anything in the video but I should have a basic quest up and running by the end of August. Hopefully you'll enjoy the video and be sure to leave a comment here or on Youtube :)

July Update

Hello again,

Its that time of the month for an update on Ninja Town's progress for this month. This month has been a little bit slower than usual with my kids getting sick and then Elden Ring DLC dropped which then occupied some of my time.

Did you know Ninja's in ancient times were farmers during the day?

I have been working on the foundational functionality for the crops and its growth stages in-game. In the video below I'm just progressing through the corn crop growth stages in real-time but this won't happen in the real game as it generally would grow over night and you would see the result in the morning.



Below are some in-game screenshots of the plant produce that you will grow in the game.


I have registered Ninja Town for the upcoming Steam Next Fest event in October where I will have a demo of the game as part of the event. Hopefully I'll be able to get everyone a chance to play it before the event. The demo will feature the tutorial area where you will get to try the farming, combat and stealth gameplay but nothing relating to the actual campaign.

Ninja Town - June Update

Hello everyone!

Time for the monthly update!

I have been working on the core system over the past month. I got the game's saving and load functionality up and running, the localization system and character builder!

With the localization system in place, I can add in different languages as I build the game. At the moment I'm only supporting English and Japanese, but will add other languages later on. Most likely post launch.




Below is a sample of the different character models, costume, face, hair, mask and gear accessories so you can build your unique character. When certain gear is equiped, it will appear on your character as well. Some may be cosmetic while others adds to your characters attributes. Will look to add more over the coming months.



I also have been working on some of the shaders in the game, so expect more visual changes in the coming months as well.

Ninja Town - May Update

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone has been doing well?
Its the first of the month and the first major official update since the campaign finished!

I have been working around with laying out the foundation for all the inventory items such as weapons, scrolls (ninjutsu/crafting), and items (power ups/runes). Making it also display on the placeholder HUD.
I have started sculpting out the terrain for Fire Town and it will be the first major town as part of Early Access. There are some mock up buildings and props positioned around the place so you can get a sense of the area, though this is far from finished. The town itself is based on Ginzan Onsen, which is a hot spring town in Japan and one of the main features is a river or canal that runs through the middle of it.



Level loading and transition is now in place which will allow me to put hints and tips on the loading screen.

I have basic player / NPC speech dialogue up and running as you can see in the video below.



Lastly, this is an arial view of Fire Town's current layout. The river flows from the mountain to the north east to the west of the town, buildings on both side of the river, and two farmland to the far west.
